Problem:
As one of the ISTD student briefs, Monotype requested a type specimen of the future to celebrate the heritage of one of their classic typefaces while also bringing it timelessly into the future.
Solution:
An avant garde book celebrating the shape and attitude of ITC Avant Garde by showing it in a variety of sizes. The text itself includes some history about the term ‘avant garde’, as well as a partially AI generated futurist manifesto.

The format is based on a square, like the original Avant Garde magazine, but I then extended one of the corners to match the angle for the slanted alternate characters that the typeface is so famous for. This also ties to avant gardism by breaking the typical page boundary and pointing forward.
